I'm Melanie...
My passion for some years has been in the area of people development, from initial inductions, technical & operational training, management and leadership development & coaching.
Experience includes managing people moves, cross functional for breadth of experience and progression. Coaching and supporting individuals through their development, providing training, support and preparing individuals in readiness for their new role.
A history of in excess of 25 years in the retail sector with Tesco Stores -from apprentice to senior manager and regional project roles. Throughout this time I built on my knowledge within many areas such as:
- Trading, which included managing sales, waste, shrink, merchandising, seasonal activity,deliveries.
- Systems, managing stock levels, controlling waste and maximising promotion activity.
- Customer Service, maintaining service levels, responding to mystery shopper data, analysing competitor activity and managing customer relations.
- Personnel, overseeing and mobilising the delivery of business plan activity, managing payroll, absence, recruitment & running assessment centres, people development, labour turnover, talent, succession & career planning, employee relations, employee pulse activity and forums, healthchecks & audits.
- Projects, store system conversions following aquisition, change consultation processes, regional resourcing and manager development, labour turnover & retention, new store openings & closures, business plan execution and delivery.
- Coach, delivery of customer business plan activity, facilitation and delivery of cultural change programmes, training & coaching manager's in leadership behaviours and attitudes, teambuilding, designing plans to support meeting Key Performance business targets and 'what good looks like' for giving great customer service.
Following Retail to date;
Consultant, Coaching choice - own business, assignments include;
Supporting individuals through a difficult period of redundancy with one -one personal coaching, creating CV's and cover letter's, facilitating interview technique workshops and mock assessment centres. In essence supporting with job search activity.

Career planning, and personal one-one coaching with individual clients.

Throughout my career I have enjoyed working within varying cultural environments in Wales, Northern Ireland and England; this gave me many opportunities to work with some interesting and wonderful people from many different backgrounds.
The way I work:-Is down to earth and pragmatic in approach, working on tangible objectives, supporting clients at the level they are comfortable with and where applicable; the emphasis on delivering effectively through people - gaining hearts and minds .
And my philosophy is:

My approach includes establishing what a client wants 'their vision & goals'. Two main components are identifying 'what' the activity, and 'how' relating to the change that is needed in order to achieve. Together we create objectives, plans and interventions to support clients in reaching their goals whether it may be personal or work related.
'My belief built on experience is: when we attend to our people's needs and equip them with the knowledge and training they require to do their job increases loyalty and emotional commitment therefore more productive and has proven to be rewarding for the leader, the business and the customer'.
